House & Decore began in Surat with a familiar afternoon: a rented flat found through six phone calls and two listings that had already gone, and a lamp for it ordered from a marketplace that showed a picture of something the seller no longer made. Both problems had the same cause. Nobody had looked at the listing before the customer did.

So we built a place where somebody does. Every property and every piece of décor on this site is read by a member of our team before it goes live, and read again whenever the seller changes it. Sellers list in their own portal, customers see only what has been approved, and the two halves of the site — the home and what goes in it — share one account, one saved list and one place to ask questions.

We are a small team in Gujarat, and we would rather list fewer homes than one we have not looked at.
